Alveare Winery: Our Unique Winemaking Philosophy

Tradition Meets Nuance: The Alveare Approach

With over 1,000 wineries in Washington state, standing out isn’t easy. At Alveare, we embrace both tradition and storytelling to create wines that reflect the region’s best while telling a deeply personal story. Here’s what makes our approach special.

A Small But Focused Production

We produce around 2,000 cases per year, placing us on the smaller side of Washington wineries. This scale allows us to focus on nuance and detail, from barrel selection to blending. Unlike large-scale producers, we manage every step of the process, ensuring that each bottle represents our vision.

Our Style: A Blend of Tradition and Storytelling

Our wines combine classical winemaking techniques with personal touches inspired by our journey. Think of us as musicians blending classical and folk elements—our wines stay true to their varietal character while adding unique notes that reflect our story.

For example, we use 100% French oak barrels, a hallmark of traditional winemaking, to achieve subtle, integrated flavors. This contrasts with American oak, which often imparts bolder, more obvious notes of vanilla and coconut. Our approach is about balance and finesse.

Why Our Wines Stand Out

Sourcing fruit from high-altitude vineyards in Rattlesnake Hills gives our wines a natural acidity and complexity reminiscent of French vintages. This distinguishes our wines from the bold, fruit-forward styles typical of Washington state.

Our wines are designed to pair seamlessly with food, inspired by our experiences in fine dining. Whether it’s a rich Cabernet or a vibrant Cabernet Franc, each bottle is crafted to enhance memorable meals and moments.

The Alveare Philosophy

At its heart, winemaking is about connection—between people, the land, and the wine itself. For us, every bottle is a celebration of these connections.

Alveare wines are a blend of tradition, nuance, and personal storytelling. By embracing classical techniques and focusing on quality over quantity, we aim to create wines that are not only delicious but also meaningful.
